Books-a-Million didn't open until 10 AM, but we got there a bit after 9 AM as we had to
get free, but numbered, tickets as his time to sign books was limited. Even though we
were almost a full hour early, we still only got numbers 56 and 58. I'm not sure why we didn't
get 56 and 57.

While I purchased copies of his book, Jill went to pick up her mother, and they met me back
at the mall. The numbers we had picked up earlier assured their place in line. This is
the view from position 56 in line — over 300 numbers were distributed, and the
line stretched from the back of the store out into the mall. Beck only was available to sign books
from noon to 1:30 PM, and I overheard one of his people state that they wouldn't be able
to fit everyone in on time. Good thing we got as low a numbers as we did.

Beck arrived at noon, as expected.

His own people, as well as bookstore employees and Hazelwood police, stayed close as people passed by for signatures.
