On 6/15/2010, Jill, Nicole and I went to the Chain of Rocks. The Mississippi was high — a river stage, measured at Eads Bridge downtown, of 28.98 ft, while flood stage is 30 ft.
We decided to walk on the bridge to see the river from above.

It appeared to have rained recently.

Molly, a hot dog, liked the cool water, although her expression doesn't indicate that she does.

Although the river was not officially in flood stage, the forest floor below the bridge
should be soil and not water.

Odd symbols are drawn on the bridge. Pentagram, Anarchy, Volkswagen, and an old Monty Pyt(hon).

As we continued to walk along the bridge, we finally saw the river. It is currently a very
big river.

That's a view of the parking area (within the guard rail square), and the gravel bar. Out there somewhere
is a 3/4ths mile long gravel bar under about 20 feet of water...

The river looks blue from a distance, but it is very brown and turbulent directly below
the bridge deck.

From the bridge we had a good view of the water intake towers.

We had a good view of downtown St. Louis, too.

The bridge is photogenic — lots of rusty girders.

Remember the title crawl at the start of the Star Wars movies? "Enter not do" is very
Yoda-ish, too.
